Girls with cankles shouldn't wear shoes with ankle straps.
So I've never done a blog before. Made a blog? Written a blog? Eh, verbiage is unimportant at this moment in time (regardless of the fact that I will likely rant about it at a later date.) Mostly all you need to know is that I am Stevie and I say a lot. Not all of it is important, not all of it is funny, I like to think it's all memorable.
I like fashion. Actually, what I like is when women (and men, but their clothes aren't as pretty) look good, feel confident, and look comfortable. Maybe not so much of the last part. I make clothing, I design clothing, I work in costume design (among the various other jobs I have done,) and I find that there are some key things women don't understand about their own bodies. It makes me sad, at least when it doesn't make me giggle like a mean girl.
I have some friends who have been after me for a while to post the things that I say and the advice that I give. Some of it is snarky, admittedly, but most of it is just because I have never seen a woman that doesn't have at least one beautiful quality to them. Sometimes they just need a bit of help to focus on that and not on the muffin top (which is totally my problem area.)
Fashion doesn't have to be as hard as some people make it out to be. It's about comfort, confidence, and self esteem. Most of that is personal, you don't have to hide behind the clothes from the magazines, you can dress however you like. In fact, you should dress how you like to dress rather than how someone else would like you to dress. How are you supposed to feel strong and beautiful if you don't want to be wearing those pants or that dress? You can't. That's ok, though. It's step one to figuring out what does make you feel beautiful.
Personally, I'm most comfortable in a dress and leggings or a geeky t-shirt and jeans. That isn't to say I don't enjoy dressing up now and then, but I'm definitely happiest in a dress and leggings with some boots. I'm an average height rather busty Apple-shaped gal who gains her weight in her middle and has no hips or butt. The dresses hide my ongoing argument with the junk food that likes to jump into my mouth and settle around my middle, and they show off a rather awesome pair of legs. The leggings are mostly because it's a lot of effort to shave my legs every day. I'm a lazy bitch, what can I say?
So, that's about as good as it's gonna get for an introductory I guess. See you all next time.
